Tim and I went down to U of M this past Thursday and Friday for a check up. His hallwalk didn't go well. A year ago he walked over 1600 feet without using oxygen. This time he was only able to walk a little over 400 feet and that was with the use of 4 liters of oxygen.
Last time he went, he learned that his oxygen diffusion capacity was down to 29%. At that time it was determined that he had been consistently losing 2% per month for the past 9 months. This time, the test that gives that percentage was inaccurate because it requires Tim to exhale for at least 6 seconds and he was only able to exhale for 4 seconds.
Based on the hallwalk, the Lung Transplant Specialist came in to see us and right away told Tim and I that it is definitely time for him to get on the double lung transplant list.
He will now start that process, which includes some testing, a heart e.k.g., appointments with surgeons, psychiatrists (or psychologists, I get those mixed up), and financial advisors, etc. Hopefully it will not be too long until he actually IS on THE LIST! Because of the rate that his health has been decreasing, I am slightly worried that there will not be much time to wait.
We are excited about Tim receiving new lungs though! It will be so nice when he can breath normally! We are hopeful and positive that things will go well and that it will all work out. We are very peaceful and happy about everything, thanks to our trust and faith in our Wonderful God. We know He is always Good and we DO trust Him in this and everything.
Please continue to pray for us and our family and friends. Thank You! :)
Isn't he a handsome Fella? :)
